Since our epic adventures are temporarily in hiatus, I will endeavor to keep your interest at least simmering with some vignettes about our time in Perth. Hang tough with me, the south west is only a mechanics bill away.

Well, here we are, Perth Central Caravan Park. Barely two clicks from the runway, which is closer than the nearest supermarket. HOWEVER, we probably couldn’t have picked a better spot, while our adventures are on remand. We’ve gone from being free wheelin’ explorers to trailer park trash in a day, and ‘cabin fever’ is something we’re both nervous about.

So let’s talk about the positives. We’re walking everywhere and have discovered a thousand acre wood just two minutes away. It’s full of walking trails and circuits and we have no trouble getting our 10,000 steps in each day.

Had we taken a left hand turn at the corner, instead of a right earlier, we would have discovered that the Swan River is also just two minutes away. The two are connected by a boardwalk which makes for a pleasant round trip first thing in the morning. All this not ten kilometres from the city centre.

The new Redcliffe transport hub is only 800 metres up the street, which means we can get to just about anywhere from there. We made a couple of forays into Perth in the last few days. The new trains are unique – there are no doors between the carriages. It’s like sitting in the belly of an anaconda snaking it’s way into the city. Perth is a cut down version of Melbourne, but here, the river is blue and the vibe is more laid back.

And I guess there’s no excuse for not keeping our website up-to date and, after six months of constant adventures, can now dust the keyboard off and lay down some more tracks. As this goes on-line, we have still not had a definitive diagnosis on the Jeep. Our, “I’ll be your mechanic for this repair”, guy is off till Tuesday, but we’ve been promised a definitive diagnosis by Wednesday. Keep ya posted!
